Escambia Academy completed the 2016 season with a 8-5 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class AA region two, the Cougars earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Last year the Escambia Academy Cougars reached the AISA-AA State Championship game only to fall just short of claiming a title. They were defeated by Autauga Academy in the State Championship game 28-21 in Troy. The Cougars had some tough luck last season as they lost five games, all by less than eight points. Since 2010, Escambia Academy has gone a combined 54-31. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Escambia Academy has managed to compile a record of 135-140. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA and 21st in the AISA. Their last losing season was 2010. The Cougars are led by head coach Hugh Fountain who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 42-19 over the past five seasons at Escambia Academy.
